FLO TV delivered broadcast TV to mobile devices. The service featured programming from popular content providers, fast channel change, and an interactive program guide. Our challenge: Create a new consumer experience while representing the interests of mobile phone carriers, TV content provider, and device manufacturers. I designed and tested many key interactions, including the on-device subscription flow.
the impulse buy
Our Mobile TV app was pre-installed on select phones marketed by AT&T and Verizon. To generate revenue, we needed to entice users to subscribe to the monthly TV service, and then sign up for additional channels. We leveraged the user's desire to access programming that they didn't want to miss at that moment - most successful with programs like sports and news. Once they acted on the impulse to buy, the process was designed to be as clear and as streamlined as possible.
