Search field and results

Project Squared (now Cisco Spark) was designed for small teams in large companies. The app featured private rooms for 2-person conversations, and public rooms where a whole team could chime in on a particular topic. As discussions heated up, the number of rooms could increase dramatically.  I designed the Search algorithm used across web, desktop and mobile clients in the Nov 2014 release.

find the individual... and their teams

Since corporate directories can contain thousands of individuals, the search UX had to manage scale effectively when displaying results. We also wanted to give teams equal prominence but still maintain a flat list. Only co-workers I message frequently appeared at the top. Other directory matches hid under a More item so that team rooms were displayed closer to the top. Searching for an individual also served as a "gateway" to the larger team discussions that we shared.
